A test of Chinese language will be held. The students in senior one and two who pass the test will be admitted to the normal classes in the morning ,studying together with the Chinese students as well as the individualized lessons in the afternoon if necessary. The students in senior three will be organized for one class. Those who pass the examinations in senior three will be awarded graduation certificates by Jianping High School, with which they can apply for any of the distinguished universities in China. Those who do not pass the Chinese language test must first complete a short-term intensive language training program before being transferred to a normal bilingual class. (For detailed requirements on this, see Short-term Language Training Program.) I. The Student Status Students who have been admitted will be issued an admission notice, and hence become a senior high school student in Shanghai and enjoy the same rights and status as the local students during their study. II. Duration of Schooling: Three academic years with two semesters in each academic years. The first semester: Sept. 1—Jan; the second semester: Feb.—End of June Summer vacation: July—August Winter vacation: three weeks around the Chinese Spring Festival Class hours: 8:00--16:30, Monday--Friday Weekend: Saturday--Sunday III. Courses to be StudiedState-Required Courses: Chinese, Mathematics, English, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, History, Geography, Music, Art, PE, Computer Optional Courses: School-developed Courses: VB Programming, Webpage Editing, Analects of Confucius and Their Contemporary Variants, Folklore and Customs, Simulated Court, Geometry Drawing Board,Electronic Technology,Computers Assembly,Self-Defense Techniques (Martial Arts),Karate, etc. Courses on the Chinese Culture: Recitation and Appreciation of Classical Chinese Poetry, Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, Pottery, Performance and Appreciation of Chinese Folk Music, Chinese Folk Art and Craft, Chinese Martial Arts, Karate, etc. HSK Language Courses IV. Accommodation Double-bedded rooms and three-bedded rooms with air conditioners and 24-hour hot water supply. There are teachers 24-hour available to help with routine problems. V. Qualification for Application 1. Grade 10-12 overseas students, over 15 years of age 2. With basic grounding in the English language 3. A Chinese guardian is required for those who intend to study for more than three months . 4. In good health VI. Application DateMarch 1—Aug. 20: Application for first semester study. Application will not be considered when classes are full. Oct. 1—Jan. 20: Application for second semester study. Application will not be considered when classes are full. In-semester applications may be considered for admission under special circumstances if there are still vacancies. VII. Application Procedure1. Fill in the Application Form in either Chinese or English, and send it along with the following materials: a. A duplicate copy of the passport b. A duplicate copy of the graduation certificate and a letter of reference from the applicant’s current school c. If no certificate available please prevides the last year’s transcript of end of years tests results. d. A duplicate copy of the Chinese guardian’s ID card e. Medical/health insurance certificate f. Two 2-inch ID photos 2. Pay the RMB¥400 application fee 3. Make an appointment for the examination VIII. AdmissionAn examination notice will be issued a week upon receipt of application materials. Applicants who pass the examination will receive the admission notice, with which one can apply for a visa. IX. Entrance Examination Overseas students will take an examination before registration.
